Jacoba Jane is known for silk dresses, blouses and scrunchies, all of which are made to order in our studio on the west coast of Canada. We design for those who appreciate fine fabrics and understated details. Many of the styles are cut on the bias to capture the easy fluidity of the silk fabric (learn more about that here). While we love offering classic and timeless colorways in each collection, the foundation of the brand relies on serving those who love a bold, bright, and playful palette.
Jacoba Jane was founded in 2019 with what began as a small Etsy shop, later evolving into an eponymous brand that now ships worldwide. Our process is based on the artisanal systems of the past, where many of a clothing brand’s offerings were made under one roof, ideas were interpreted and brought to life by tactical means such as draping on a dress form, and the finished product was a testament to the technically skilled hands that brought it to life. These values guide our work and provide a roadmap for each collection.
Your new dress or blouse is cut, sewn, steamed and shipped from our West Coast atelier.
A NOTE FROM OUR FOUNDER
When I'm not at my production table exploring silk fabrics or testing a new pattern, you can find me at the beach with my husband and our pup or cooking anything on Bon Appetite's website.
Sourcing fabrics is my favourite part of the design process, second to pattern making. The architecture of a garment and how we take a one dimensional piece of fabric and mould it to a three dimensional body fascinates me, and I began studying pattern making five years ago for this reason.
I enjoy exploring dichotomies in my work - how something can be both elegant and easygoing, understated yet exuberant.
