Jacoba fell in love with silk for its fluidity and the way it feels against the skin. But she kept running into the same problem: few brands were making clothes that took silk seriously, pairing it with thoughtful construction like the bias cut and substantial silk weights, and letting the fabric do the work.
That gap became Jacoba Jane. Woven in limited runs, our silk is a rarity in today's world and an ode to craftsmanship from eras past.
Every collection starts with silk and the bias cut, creating dresses that drape naturally and feel as good as they look. The goal is simple—beautifully made pieces that women actually want to keep, wear again, and eventually hand down.
"Sourcing fabrics is one of my favourite parts of the design process, second only to pattern making. The architecture of a garment and how we can take a one dimensional piece of fabric and mould it to a three dimensional body in so many different ways - this is so exciting to me.
I enjoy exploring dichotomies in my work - how something can be both elegant and easygoing, understated yet exuberant."
