Our Values

At Jacoba Jane, we believe in crafting garments that honor both the art of dressing and the responsibility we have to the planet. Our approach is intentional, with a focus on quality over quantity. Some of our pieces are made to order, while others are produced in small batches—designed to be rare, cherished, and never overproduced. By creating garments this way, we reduce waste and ensure that every piece we make is special.

Silk is at the heart of our brand. As a natural, biodegradable fiber, it embodies the beauty of sustainability. Unlike synthetic materials that contribute to pollution because they never break down, silk returns to the earth at the end of its life cycle, making it a luxurious yet conscious choice.

As a women-owned business, we are proud to uphold ethical craftsmanship and support skilled artisans. Our garments are produced in two locations: our atelier in Canada and small, family-run ateliers in China. These partners have been working with silk for hundreds of years, preserving traditional techniques and passing them down through generations. We are honored to collaborate with these artisans, ensuring that the legacy of silk craftsmanship continues to thrive.

Silk itself has a rich history that dates back over 5,000 years to ancient China, where it was discovered by legend when Empress Leizu found silkworms spinning their delicate threads. The fabric became so valuable that it was once reserved for royalty and played a pivotal role in global trade, leading to the creation of the famed Silk Road. By working with expert silk artisans in China, we pay homage to the fabric's origins while creating timeless, modern designs.

At Jacoba Jane, our values are woven into every piece we create—respect for tradition, commitment to sustainability, and a dedication to craftsmanship. We invite you to embrace the beauty of silk with us, knowing that every garment tells a story of artistry, intention, and care.
